We are committed to your loved one’s safety. Outdoor visits, weather permitting,
are preferred. We ask that you adhere to the following guidelines while visiting
with your loved one:
1. Upon arrival, you must complete a self-screening tool.
2. If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 within 3 days following your
visit, you must notify the facility.
3. In order to maintain the safety of all residents in the facility, we ask that you
limit your visit to a designated common area, or your loved one’s room.
4. Visitors must wear a well-fitting face mask, preferably a surgical mask or
higher at all times
5. You must remain at least 6 feet away from staff and residents, other than
your loved one, for the duration of your visit.
6. You must practice hand hygiene before and after your visit.
7. Visitors must only engage with their loved one, not other residents or staff.
8. You may visit your loved one at any time during designated visiting hours.
You will be notified by the facility if the facility is in outbreak status during
the time of your visit. Additional safeguards, during that time, may be
recommended to you.
The facility has the right to end any visit, should you not adhere to these
guidelines.
Visitation Risks
Residents and visitors should be aware that as a congregate living facility, there are
risks associated with participating in visitations, even if the resident and visitors
are fully vaccinated. Outdoor visitations are preferred since they pose a lower risk
of transmission due to increased space and airflow. Residents and visitors should
practice the Core Principles of Infection Control identified on this handout.
Core Principles of COVID-19 Infection Prevention
•
Vaccination for COVID-19 has been shown to be highly effective.
•
Screening all who enter the facility for signs and symptoms of COVID-19,
which may include temperature checks, and denial of entry of those with signs
or symptoms or those who have had close contact with someone with COVID-
19 infection in the prior 14 days (regardless of the visitor’s vaccination status).
o
All visitors must notify the facility if they develop symptoms of COVID-19
within 3 days following the visit.
•
Perform hand hygiene with the use of alcohol-based hand rub, which is
preferred to soap and water, unless hands are visibly soiled.
•
Require face covering or mask (covering mouth and nose), in accordance with
CDC guidance, FDA guidance or other state or local guidance.
•
Employ physical distancing of at least 6 feet between persons, in accordance
with CDC guidance.
•
Instructional signage throughout the facility and proper visitor education on
COVID-19 signs and symptoms, infection control precautions, and other
applicable facility practices (use of masks, specified entries, exits and routes to
designated areas, hand hygiene).
•
Cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces in the facility often, and
designated visitation areas after each visit.
•
Ensuring appropriate staff use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•
Effective cohorting of residents (e.g., separate areas dedicated to COVID-19).
•
Resident and staff testing conducted as required.
*Fully vaccinated refers to a person who is greater than or equal to 4 weeks
following receipt of the second dose in a 2 dose series or greater than or equal to 2
weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine, per the CDC’s
Public Health Recommendations for Vaccinated Persons.
